Brisbane to Gladstone Multihull Yacht Race

In what was seen as ideal conditions, 15 to 20 knot South Easterlies for this 310 nautical mile down hill slide, Phil’s 11m Pescott Whitehaven cruising catamaran “Rhythmic” clearly showed the fleet that you don’t need a full on racing machine to win the event.

In just over 29 hours they crossed the line 5th out of the multihull fleet and with only 2 maxi yachts in the QCYC mono Gladstone race finishing ahead of this cruising cat. The crew on “Rhythmic” did race in relative comfort, as the crew were heard to mutter that they missed out on some of Top Gear on the digital TV during gybes but the queen size beds ware rather pleasant to relax in.

Phil has owned the boat for just over 6 years now. He loves it’s versatility as mainly a family cruiser but “Rhythmic” can still be very competitive when he is helped by his experience crew of 4 mates.

He would also like to thanks the businesses and suppliers of equipment onboard “Rhythmic” for their quality products and fantastic service that helped him win the event:

Allyacht Spars, mast, boom & fore beam
Nautilus Insurance
GM Sails
Pescott multihull design
